The Fiat Ducato dominates the light commercial vehicle market. Now Fiat has presented an electric variant as an alternative to the combustion engines. The new Fiat E-Ducato will be on the market in the next few months.
With features such as stability and low operating costs, Ducato has been one of the most popular vans in the European market for almost 40 years. The properties are not changed in the new electric version of the Ducato, named E-Ducato, which was first introduced just under a year ago.
The development of E-Ducato is based on data from over 28,000 vehicles that have driven more than 50 million km, to make a van that meets the wishes and needs of users. This has resulted in a 100% electric van that comes with various battery packs, providing a range of 200 km and up to 330 km according to the NEDC cycle with one charge.
The electric motor has a maximum output of 90 kW (122 hp) and a maximum torque of 280 Nm. That is well below the maximum of 450 Nm of the most powerful diesel Ducato with automatic transmission but should be completely sufficient for urban traffic. The top speed is limited to 100 km / h.
The loading volume is up to 17 cubic meters, the payload is up to 1,950 kilograms.
With the new electrical technology also comes a lot of new possibilities. E-Ducato will come with a variety of driving settings. The 'Normal' driving mode ensures the perfect balance between performance and range, 'ECO' increases range and 'Power' ensures maximum power for the heavy-duty jobs.
As the battery level approaches zero, the driver receives a warning and E-Ducato automatically activates the special 'Turtle Mode' which slows down the speed and performance to extend the remaining range, providing the best conditions for reaching a charging stand. On the whole, E-Ducato is designed to get the job done.
In addition, E-Ducato will be equipped with a range of different connection services for both the daily user and the fleet manager. This includes Mopar Connect, which allows the user to schedule recharging as well as follow his fleet and vans trips via smartphone.
The price of the new Fiat E-Ducato also remains classified. The first copies are likely to be used by fleet customers under leasing contracts.
