The Volkswagen ID. Buzz already has a price in Europe. The long-awaited electric van with a retro-futuristic design arrives on the market, intending to become a practical and spacious alternative within the thriving electric car sector. The ID Buzz remains at an interesting intermediate point between general rivals such as the Peugeot e-Traveller/e-Expert and premium-like the Mercedes-Benz EQV.

Based on the MEB modular platform already seen in other group models such as the ID.3 or the ID.4, the ID. Buzz will initially be available with a single body that is 4.71 meters long and has a 2.99-meter wheelbase. However, at the end of next year, the range will be expanded with the arrival of a long-wheelbase version.

For now, buyers will be able to choose between a passenger variant with five seats (the third row of seats will be added later as an option) and a cargo variant (ID. Buzz Cargo). The powertrain will be identical in both cases: it will combine a 204 hp (150 kW) and 310 Nm electric motor coupled to the rear axle with a 77 kWh battery pack.

The autonomy will be 418 km for the VW ID. Buzz and 414 km for the VW ID. Buzz Cargo. As for charging, the newcomer will be able to reach powers of 11 kW in alternating current and 170 kW in direct current, going from 5 to 80% charge in just 30 minutes. Later, the mechanical offer will be completed with more battery options (a smaller one of about 58 kWh and a larger one of around 100 kWh), power levels, and all-wheel-drive versions.

The VW ID. Buzz Cargo will start at 54,000 euros. The VW ID. Buzz, the passenger version, will cost 64,000 euros with the Pro finish, while the special launch edition 1st Edition will cost 71,400 euros. Although the latter will add a series of extras that will differentiate it from the standard model, the truth is that the Pro finish will include complete standard equipment.

How does the electric minivan compare to its internal combustion equivalents?

The VW California starts at 41,800 euros, while the most luxurious VW Multivan goes at 51,700 euros. By approach, the ID. Buzz is more similar to this latest model, as it is closer to a minivan than to a van to use. On the other hand, the ID Buzz Cargo price is far from the 35,700 euros for the Volkswagen Transporter. @via insideevs.
