Kia will launch another electric car in 2021. The new Kia EV6 is the first of ten other electric models until 2025. Now there are the first images of the EV6 electric crossover.

In contrast to the Kia E-Niro and the Kia E-Soul, which are electric versions of combustion vehicles, the Kia EV6 is based on the E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) optimized for electric cars.

The EV6 was created in cooperation with all three Kia design studios in Namyang (Korea), Frankfurt and Irvine (California, USA). Karim Habib is the head designer reponsable for the EV6. The crossover has a strongly arched hood, a coupé-like roof and a distinctive car rear end. The interior is dominated by a towering dashboard that houses a display wall. It extends over two screens. The display acts as an instrument cluster in front of the driver, showing all information relevant to the journey. In the middle, the touch display shows the infotainment system.

The battery capacity, cruising range, and powertrain performance to be installed have not yet been clarified. Presumably, the Hyundai-Kia E-GMP platform can use a 55kWh or 72.6kWh battery and a single or dual electric motor and will have a range of around 430-450km.

The new Kia EV6 is equipped with quick charging equipment as standard, and if you use a 350kW DC quick charger, you can replenish the battery from 5% to 80% in about 20 minutes. To do this, the Koreans are implementing the 800-volt technology from Rimac partner.

The dimensions of the Kia EV6 should be 4.85 meters in length, 1.55 meters in height and a wheelbase of 3.0 meters.

The 2021 Kia EV6 should also have an HDA2 "Highway Driving Assist Level 2" (a level 2 assistant for autonomous driving).

I expect the new Kia EV6 to celebrate its world premiere in the first quarter of 2021. Nothing concrete can be said about the price of the EV6 electric crossover, but everything under 35,000 euros is very difficult to imagine.

The 2021 Kia EV6 wants to be a veritable competitor for VW ID.4.
