Audi currently has five 100% electric models in its range: the e-tron, the e-tron Sportback, the e-tron GT, the Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Sportback e-tron. While the first two sit on an adapted version of the MLB thermal platform, the third derives directly from the Porsche Taycan, from which it takes its J1 platform. The Q4 range for its part makes use of Volkswagen's MEB platform.
Over the next few years, Audi's range of electric models will gradually increase. The first to arrive will be the Q6 e-tron, an SUV that will debut in 2022 the new PPE modular platform, jointly developed by Audi and Porsche. Although this model will coexist with the Audi e-tron for a while, it will eventually replace it. Like its predecessor, the Audi Q6 e-tron probably features a Sportback coupe variant.
Next up will be the Audi A6 e-tron, which will also make use of the modular PPE platform. Available as a sedan and a station wagon, this model will be in the same segment as the Audi e-tron GT, although the latter will be differentiated by its more radical approach. In any case, it is to be hoped that eventually, the Audi e-tron GT will also end up giving way to the Audi A6 e-tron to avoid undesired duplications.
But what happens next? At this time, Audi has only confirmed two other electric models: the A4 e-tron (2024) and the Landjet project (2025), which will be located respectively in the D and F segments (that is, below and above A6 e-tron). While the first will coexist with the thermal A4 and A5, the second will replace the A8, top of the range of the German manufacturer.
Now, a report from the German press has revealed Audi's plans to launch a third electric SUV: the Audi Q8 e-tron, which will be manufactured at the company's plant in Brussels, where it will fill the gap left by the Audi e-tron, when the latter's production ends. Initially, this model will use the PPE platform of its younger siblings.
The honour of the Audi Q8 e-tron will ensure the long-term future of the Brussels factory, which had previously requested to be awarded the production of the Landjet project, which finally went to the Hannover plant belonging to Volkswagen, where in addition to the Audi will build two models from Bentley and Porsche.
Given that the Audi Q8 e-tron will be placed in the F segment together with the vehicle resulting from the "Landjet project", it is expected that it will incorporate all the technological advances released a year earlier by its brother. This will include among other things a full arsenal of wizards that will give you advanced autonomous capabilities. @via automobilwoche.
Update: the 2023 Audi Q8 e-tron SUV has a range up to 582 km, and for the Audi Q8 e-tron Sportback has a range up to 600 km.
