Volkswagen has taken the wraps off its flagship electric sedan, the Volkswagen ID.7, which was recently revealed in China. This latest addition to the ID. series cars has been assembled by FAW-Volkswagen joint venture's plant in Guangdong, China. The electric car has a 150 kW single motor, an impressive 700 km range, and is built on VW's dedicated MEB platform.

The Volkswagen ID.7 comes with a powerful NMC ternary lithium-ion 77 kWh battery and has a curb weight of 2122 kg, offering two wheel options of 235/55 R18 and 235/50 R19. It has a maximum speed of 155 km/h with a 201 hp motor. The car's dimensions are 4956mm, 1862mm, and 1537mm, with a wheelbase of 2965mm. It also boasts an augmented reality HUD that projects some dashboard information on the windshield.

China is Volkswagen's most important electric vehicle market, with SAIC-Volkswagen reaching the milestone of being the first automaker to sell 22 million cars in China. The Volkswagen ID. family has also seen incredible growth in the Chinese electric car market, with 143,100 cars sold, twice the previous year's sales. The Volkswagen ID.7 will be manufactured in the VW-FAW plant in Foshan, Guangdong, and will be delivered to customers in the second half of this year.

The Volkswagen ID.7 will debut publicly at the Shanghai Auto Show on April 18. The electric sedan is expected to be priced at around $55,000 in Europe. However, the price in China is yet to be confirmed. Volkswagen has reduced the prices of all its electric models by 30,000 yuan ($4,300), and the ID.4 now costs 174,900 yuan ($25,000) in China after a recent discount of 40,000 yuan ($5,800).

With the ID.7, Volkswagen aims to continue its impressive growth in the Chinese electric car market. The vehicle's strong range, power, and sleek design make it a desirable option for EV enthusiasts, while its affordability will likely make it attractive to more budget-conscious buyers. With this release, the VW-FAW joint venture has taken an important step forward in the EV market, and the future looks bright for Volkswagen's electric vehicle lineup. @via carnewschina.
