Aston Martin's first electric car will arrive by 2026. In the past, the British brand had planned several times the launch of electric cars. The closest to making it to production was the "Aston Martin Rapide E Prototype" which was cancelled due to economic problems.

Speaking of electric cars, there is no mention of them before 2025/2026. The timings were announced by Tobias Moers, the brand's new CEO, who also added that the future electric car will use Mercedes-Benz technology.

In fact, an important agreement was recently signed between Aston Martin and Mercedes-Benz. The British manufacturer will be able to access the technology of the German brand, including that of electric vehicles, in exchange for a large shareholding in the company. Mercedes-Benz's share within Aston Martin will grow to 20%. At this point, it is speculated that the same platform as the future Mercedes EQS could be used.

Interestingly, Tobias Moers made it known that the new sports Aston Martin Valhalla could use an AMG powertrain. A final decision, however, has not yet been made. He has also promised that new models using Mercedes-Benz technology will start arriving by the end of 2022 or early 2023; most probably these will be plug-in hybrid cars.

Among these will also be the Aston Martin DBX SUV plug-in hybrid.

An overall very interesting plan that should allow Aston Martin to be able to relaunch itself on the market. At this point, all that remains is to wait for more information to find out more.
