The manufacturer's biggest SUV on the European market, the Ford Explorer PHEV is a very big car. At 5.05 m long, 2.28 m wide and 1.78 m high, it receives a hybrid powertrain at the height of its dimensions. Under the hood, there is a gasoline V6 3.0 l joined by an electric motor for a total power of 457 horses and a torque of 850 Nm. Despite its imposing size, the American giant can drive up to 230 km / h and promises acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 6 seconds.

The Ford Explorer plug-in hybrid is now available to order on the German market where it is sold at a price of 74,000 euros.

Powered by a 10-speed automatic transmission, Ford's Plug-In Hybrid SUV's on-board system offers the four driving modes found on most plug-in hybrid models. Namely EV Auto (automatic management between the two engines), EV Now (100% electric operation), EV Later (battery capacity kept for future use) and EV Recharge (the engine runs in forced operation to recharge the battery).

Rather small compared to the size of the vehicle, the battery is only 13.1 kWh capacity, this is enough for 40 kilometers of range.

On the European market, the launch of the Ford Explorer plug-in hybrid is scheduled for March 2020. Sold from 74,000 euros on the German market, Ford incorporates standard dual-zone air conditioning, leather upholstery, steering wheel and heated seats and sunroof.
