The iEV Z is an electric quadricycle that uses the technology of its predecessor, presented a few years ago. From the iEV X, which already incorporated a robotic system to lengthen its size, the iEV Z has been developed as a new and improved version. With a battery capable of offering 100 km of autonomy at a speed of 45 km/h, the iEV Z electric vehicle is a solution for urban transport that allows you to carry a passenger and some cargo.

The electric quadricycle, manufactured in Denmark by the IEV Motors company, weighs only 220 kilograms and has a minimum width of only 78 centimeters, is 145 centimeters high, and has a variable length depending on the configuration required. When only traveling inside, the driver measures 198 centimeters. The iEV X can be electrically and automatically lengthened by up to 235 centimeters to accommodate a passenger sitting behind him on a shared fold-down bench seat. To transport additional cargo and the passenger, a second position of the electrical system allows reaching 275 centimeters.

As indicated by its manufacturer, all these changes in length are carried out automatically and quickly. In a demonstration video of the previous prototype, you can see how these modifications are made through a mobile phone application. However, it is noted that the speed of the extension movements has been significantly improved in the next generation with the iEV Z.

The electrical system that propels it is made up of a 1 kW motor that is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 45 km/h. In addition, a 3.3 kWh capacity lithium battery promises a range of approximately 100 kilometers, although it will depend on its load.

A set of solar panels help power the electrical system, although the manufacturer does not offer data on how much energy is recovered each day with this system and how much autonomy it adds to that of the battery.

The improvements that the iEV Z includes over the iEV X are a completely redesigned carbon steel chassis and a strong aluminum and carbon fiber body. In addition, anti-intrusion beams are added for greater strength and safety. It also includes a front cargo area, power windows with molded safety glass (as opposed to the previously used acrylic), and a significant upgrade to the robotics system that changes its length.

The iEV Z electric vehicle will be available later this year at a price of approximately 5,850 euros. In addition, according to the manufacturer, a premium version will be available, called iEV Z+, which was also planned for the iEV X. The iEV Z+ electric quadricycle is offered with a 72 V battery, a solar panel of 60 W, and it can reach a speed of 60 km/h. @via ievmotors.
