Kia has unveiled the EV5 Concept, an all-electric SUV concept that showcases the brand's vision and strategy for electrification in China. The Kia EV5 Concept is based on Kia's Opposites United design philosophy, which combines natural and modern elements to create a dynamic and emotional vehicle. The Kia EV5 Concept also hints at a production model launched in China in late 2023, marking a new era of EV design for Kia.

The Kia EV5 Concept is designed to appeal to customers seeking inventive ideas and value sustainable and environmentally responsible solutions. It offers a spacious and versatile interior, advanced technology features, and a powerful and efficient electric drivetrain. The Kia EV5 Concept also reflects Kia's ambition to establish global leadership in electrification as part of its 'Plan S' strategy to offer 11 electric models globally by 2026.

The exterior of the Kia EV5 Concept is characterized by a sleek and muscular silhouette, with sharp lines and sculpted surfaces that create a sense of movement and energy. The front fascia features Kia's signature 'tiger nose' grille, which is reinterpreted as a digital display that can show various graphics and messages. The slim LED headlights are integrated into the grille, creating a distinctive light signature. The side profile reveals a long wheelbase, short overhangs, large wheels, and flared wheel arches that emphasize the SUV's robustness and stability. The rear end features a full-width LED taillight bar that connects the C-shaped taillights, creating a strong visual impact. The roofline slopes gently towards the rear spoiler, enhancing the aerodynamics and sportiness of the vehicle.

The interior of the EV5 Concept is inspired by the concept of 'borderless life,' where there is no distinction between nature and urban life. It is designed to provide a comfortable and relaxing space for passengers while offering practicality and functionality. The cabin features a minimalist and futuristic dashboard with a large curved screen that spans across the vehicle's width. The screen displays various information and functions, such as navigation, entertainment, climate control, and driving modes. The center console houses a rotary gear selector and touch-sensitive buttons for easy operation. The steering wheel features haptic controls that allow the driver to access various functions without taking their eyes off the road.

The seats are upholstered in eco-friendly, soft, and durable materials. They also feature adjustable headrests, lumbar support, and massage and ventilation functions. The rear seats can be folded flat to create more cargo space or reclined to offer more comfort. The Kia EV5 Concept electric SUV also features a panoramic sunroof that allows natural light and fresh air to enter the cabin, creating a sense of openness and connection with the environment.

The EV5 Concept is powered by a high-performance electric drivetrain that delivers smooth and responsive acceleration and a long driving range. The Kia EV5 Concept has a 100 kWh battery pack that can provide an estimated range of over 600 km (373 miles) on a single charge. The battery pack can also be fast-charged up to 80% in less than 20 minutes using a 350 kW charger. The EV5 Concept also features an intelligent energy management system that optimizes the battery performance and efficiency and a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function that allows the vehicle to supply electricity to external devices or other vehicles.

The EV5 Concept also offers high safety and convenience, thanks to its advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and connectivity features. The EV5 Concept has a 360-degree surround view camera, a blind spot monitor, a lane-keeping assist, an adaptive cruise control, a forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and a parking assist. The Kia EV5 Concept also features a biometric authentication system that recognizes the driver's face and fingerprint and adjusts the settings and preferences accordingly. The Concept EV5 also supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and over-the-air (OTA) updates that keep the software up to date.

The Kia EV5 Concept is a bold and innovative all-electric SUV demonstrating Kia's commitment to electrification in China. It is designed to inspire customers with its emotional design, user-focused interior, and sustainable solutions. It also provides a preview of a production model that will be launched in China in late 2023 as part of Kia's plan to offer more electric models globally by 2026. The Kia EV5 Concept electric SUV is a new milestone for Kia's Opposites United design philosophy and a new era of EV design for Kia.
