Just over a year ago, CUPRA unveiled its electric coupe SUV concept, the CUPRA Tavascan, and little else has been known about this project since until now. Wayne Griffiths, CEO of CUPRA and brand new president of SEAT, has assured that this model is "a dream for the brand and we’re fighting to bring it to reality".

The executive explained in statements to Autocar that is "a project we're working on, but we're not ready to announce dates or timings, not because we have doubts but because we have a lot of other models to launch first. The pipeline is full for the next few years."

In fact, Griffiths suggested that the Tavascan would not arrive before 2024 due to the full list of launches that SEAT is imminently considering.

The CUPRA Tavascan electric SUV is therefore not expected to enter production for more than three years.

The CUPRA Tavascan concept uses Volkswagen's Modular Electric Propulsion Platform (MEB), that is, the same as the Volkswagen ID.3 and ID.4, Skoda Enyaq IV, among many others. It is equipped with two electric motors, one for each axle, which together produces 225 kW (306 hp).

Also, Tavascan is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 6.5 seconds, while promising up to 450 kilometres of autonomy thanks to a 77 kWh capacity battery.

Be that as it may, it seems that we will have to wait at least until 2024 to see CUPRA's electric SUV go into production.
