The FUSO eCanter SensorCollect concept is a garbage truck based on the eCanter electric model. The innovation is that the operator can control the truck from outside, the whole operation becoming more efficient. The control is done wirelessly, through an HMI (Human Machine Interface).
Equipped with LiDAR system, ultrasonic sensors and a high-precision GPS system, the truck can safely perform remote commands, detecting people and objects in the vicinity. The commands that can be performed include tracking the operator, stopping, avoiding obstacles and stopping immediately in case of danger of impact.
The garbage truck should be able to follow the operator and avoid objects or people automatically.
With a range of 100 km, the 7.49-ton vehicle easily meets customer requirements for short-distance urban distribution. The propulsion system consists of an electric motor which develops 129 kW with 390 Nm torque. Using a fast-charging station it is possible to fully recharge in just an hour and a half.
FUSO eCanter is the first light electric truck produced in small series. More than 160 vehicles currently operate in Japan, Europe and the USA. In Europe, FUSO eCanter is used in 11 cities in Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Portugal, Ireland, the Netherlands and Denmark.
