Volkswagen has unveiled an unprecedented electric concept in the form of a buggy. About 70 years after the launch of the first buggy on California beaches, Volkswagen introduced the Buggy ID concept to demonstrate that these vehicles can still be upgraded and adapted to new modern technologies.
In addition, on this occasion, the Volkswagen Group announced that the MEB platform dedicated to electric vehicles could also be used by other manufacturers.

The new ID Buggy concept is developed on the MEB platform and has generous dimensions: length 4.063 mm, width 1.890 mm, height 1.463 mm and wheelbase 2.650 mm.
Three-dimensional LED headlights let it feel floating above the large front bumper, while the center-mounted Volkswagen logo is also LED , and the LEDs also feature LEDs.
The ID Buggy is equipped with off-road tires with 18-inch wheels. Typical for a buggy, the back is very tall and wide, and the stops are also three-dimensional and incorporate LED technology. The cockpit is digital and provides basic information.
Volkswagen ID Buggy is a connected to an electric motor positioned on the rear axle and it has 150 kW, equivalent to 204 horsepower, while the maximum torque reaches 310 Nm;
The ID Buggy reaches 100 km / h in 7.2 seconds, while the maximum speed is limited to 160 km / h.
Volkswagen also announced its intention to develop a new portable charging station with a capacity of up to 100 kW. The production of these stations is scheduled to begin in 2020, simultaneously with the release of the first version of the ID range.
