Despite the well-known old software problems, Volkswagen continues to prepare for the launch of its new electric ID.3, promised for next summer. Because of this reason, the company has tried to dismiss 7 false myths about electric cars.
Let's start from number 1: do electric cars pollute more than traditional ones, given the entire production process?
According to VW absolutely not, the EVs are already more Eco Friendly than petrol, diesel and hybrid cars.
Number 2: EVs are too expensive!
Obviously false, for VW: thanks to the various state incentives it is possible to buy an ID.3 less than an equivalent petrol car, also with the electric you would save 70 euros per month for the vehicle's power supply.
Number 3: batteries deteriorate too early!
VW guarantees its battery packs for 8 years or 160,000 km and also states how batteries can be recycled, thus safeguarding the environment even at the end of its life cycle.
Number 4: the electric ones are useful only on small distances!
Reality says that the ID.3 charges 290 km (WLTP) in just 30 minutes and in Europe there are already 2,200 new Fast Charge stations.
Number 5: it is difficult to recharge your car to public charging points!
Wrong, in Germany alone, there are today 24,000 stations, while the We Charge network has 150,000 charging points throughout Europe.
Number 6: EVs can easily catch fire!
Experts say that EVs are as safe as traditional cars, it is also not true that they catch fire thanks to advanced charging management software and steel protections around the batteries.
Number 7: there are raw materials that do harm the environment!
VW claims to use only "clean" materials for its electric cars, and the existing materials will last for at least another 150 years.
