Imagination became reality when the concept car known as the BMW iNEXT became the BMW iX all-electric SUV. The new BMW iX is the first model based on BMW Group's new, modular and scalable platform, specifically designed for sustainability, driving pleasure, versatility and luxury.
The BMW iX is designed solely for an all-electric drive system. The electric driveline is manufactured in a sustainable way, without the use of rare metals. The batteries in the BMW iX are designed for a long-term life cycle and the energy used to manufacture battery cells comes exclusively from renewable materials.
The BMW iX is about as long and wide as a BMW X5, as tall as a BMW X6 and has the same rims as BMW X7 (21 inches or 22 inches).
The BMW iX also stands out with distinctive elements such as frameless doors, pressure-sensitive door openers, distinctive wheel arches, and a tailgate that covers the entire rear of the car. The characteristic blue colour reappears in several exterior details. Optionally, the BMW iX also comes with an exterior design package that gives the car a sportier look.
The technology used in BMW's iX electric SUV sets a new digital standard with the latest advances in autonomous driving and connectivity. This means that computer performance has been upgraded to be able to process 20 times bigger data volumes than previous models, and also improved sensor system and 5G capacity.
