When we talk about electric cars a very common but wrong rumor is that they only work well for city routes, but not for large journeys. Recent times have shown the opposite. Tesla, thanks to its network of Superchargers, has made it clear that with the right infrastructure it is possible to travel anywhere without problems and without recharging worries.
The record obtained by the well-known Youtuber and electric car expert Bjørn Nyland, who traveled 2,781 km in 24 hours, demonstrates that a fast recharging network can allow everyone to travel in electric.
The record was obtained in Germany by exploiting the IONITY recharging network which offers recharging powers even higher than those of the Superchargers. Furthermore, the test was obtained under real conditions. For the occasion, a German Tesla Model 3 Long Range was chosen at high speeds (around 170 km / h). Obviously, more people took turns driving the 24 hours.
The consumption was very high, about 311 Wh / km, but thanks to the IONITY network was possible to charge quickly and to be able to move off quickly. Overall, including the stops, the 24-hour average was 115 km / h.
The record attempt was sponsored by IONITY itself, which paid the top-up costs. This test has shown once again that with the right infrastructure traveling long distances with electric cars is possible. IONITY is expanding its network throughout Europe and therefore it will be easier to move with battery-powered cars.
However, IONITY charging station is not the only infrastructure operator in Europe able to offer fast charging points for electric cars. This means that in the future it will be easier to be able to move in this way without having to worry about being without energy.
