Polestar, the Swedish electric performance car brand, has announced the start of production for its latest model, the Polestar 4. The SUV coupe is the fourth vehicle in the company’s lineup, following the Polestar 1 hybrid coupe, the Polestar 2 fastback sedan, and the Polestar 3 electric SUV. The Polestar 4 is expected to reach its first customers before the end of 2023.
What makes the Polestar 4 unique?
The Polestar 4 is a sleek and sporty SUV coupe with a sloping roofline, a distinctive taillight design, and 22-inch alloy wheels. But the most striking feature of the Polestar 4 is the absence of a rear window. Instead, the vehicle relies on a digital rearview mirror and a camera system to provide visibility for the driver. Polestar says this design choice allows for more rear passenger space and an immersive experience.
The Polestar 4 also boasts impressive performance and range, thanks to its electric powertrain and battery pack. The vehicle will be available with two options: a single-motor rear-wheel-drive configuration with 272 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque or a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration with 544 horsepower and 506 lb-ft of torque. According to Polestar, the latter can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 3.8 seconds.
The Polestar 4 will have a large 94 kWh battery pack that can provide over 300 miles of driving range for the single-motor version and slightly less for the dual-motor version. The battery can be charged at up to 200 kW on a DC fast charger, although Polestar has not revealed the estimated charging times yet.

- A 15.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google services and apps
- A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster

- An adaptive suspension system (for the dual-motor version)
- A vegan interior with recycled materials
- A suite of advanced driver assistance systems, such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert

- A performance package with Brembo brakes, Öhlins dampers, and 20-inch forged wheels
- A leather interior with ventilated seats and a heated steering wheel
- A tow bar with a 3,300-lb towing capacity
- A roof box or a bike rack
How much does the Polestar 4 cost?
Polestar says the Polestar 4 will start at $60,000 for the single-motor version and will likely cost more for the dual-motor version. The exact pricing and availability for different markets will be announced later. The Polestar 4 will be sold online through the company’s website and physical Polestar Spaces, where customers can see and test drive the vehicles.
