MG adds two new variants to its successful MG4 electric hatchback lineup

The MG4 electric hatchback has been one of the most popular and affordable EVs in Europe since its launch in 2023. The MG4 Extended Range is available in the top-spec Trophy trim level, which includes a host of features such as leather seats, heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging, sat-nav, 360-degree camera, blind spot detection, lane change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control. The car also has a sporty exterior design with a two-tone roof, rear spoiler, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The price of the MG4 Extended Range is $40,500 (€34,995), which is still very competitive compared to other electric hatchbacks with similar range and performance. For example, the Hyundai Kona Electric with a 64 kWh battery and a range of 300 miles (482 km) costs $44,000 (€37,990), while the Kia Niro EV with a 64 kWh battery and a range of 239 miles (385 km) costs $41,000 (€35,490).

MG4 XPower: the ultimate electric hot hatch

The MG4 XPower is the most powerful and exciting model of the MG4 series, aiming to challenge the likes of the Abarth 500e and the upcoming Alpine A290_ß concept. The car is based on the Long Range model but adds another electric motor on the front axle to create an all-wheel drive system with a combined output of 429 hp (320 kW) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque.

The MG4 XPower can sprint from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). The car also has a sport-tuned suspension with stiffer springs, heavier steering, bigger brakes, and wider wheels to enhance its handling and agility. The car also features a dedicated XPower mode that optimizes the power delivery and throttle response for maximum performance.

The MG4 XPower has a distinctive look that sets it apart from the rest of the MG4 lineup. The car has a more aggressive front bumper with larger air intakes, a blacked-out grille with an XPower badge, side skirts, a rear diffuser, quad exhaust tips, and a large rear wing. The car also has unique 19-inch alloy wheels with red brake calipers and XPower logos.

The price of the MG4 XPower is also $40,500 (€34,995), which makes it one of the most affordable electric hot hatchbacks on the market. For comparison, the Abarth 500e, with 199 hp (148 kW) and a range of 124 miles (200 km), costs $38,000 (€32,900), while the Alpine A290_ß concept is expected to cost around $55,000 (€47,500) when it goes into production.
