Throughout 2023, Honda plans to introduce electric SUVs in Europe

Honda has been marketing its first electric automobile on the old continent since 2020, with the Honda e, a tiny car explicitly designed for Europe. In the coming years, the Japanese seek to progressively electrify their portfolio, including hybrids and new fully electric vehicles. According to some industry rumors, Honda will unveil a new electric vehicle next year and put it on the market in 2023. The concept is based on Honda's research on Honda SUV E: Prototype unveiled in April at the Shanghai Auto Show. The battery-powered Honda SUV will be built on the same chassis as the Honda e, but will be slightly larger and thus have more inside room. The Honda e has a length of 3895 millimeters, a width of 1750 millimeters, and a height of 1510 millimeters, with a wheelbase of 2530 millimeters.

According to the source, the Shanghai electric study's appearance will be available exclusively in China beginning in spring 2022 and will be nearly identical to that of the current model. However, another electric SUV for other markets, such as Europe and the United States, should only be based on the draft SUV E: Prototype, as the little Honda e's design does not serve as a model - at least not from the exterior. Instead, the interior is believed to take features from the compact Honda electric car, including a fully digital cockpit with five monitors.

In terms of driving technology, it is expected that the larger electric SUV will be fitted with a greater battery capacity. According to the WLTP standard, the Honda e has a 35.5 kWh lithium-ion battery that provides a range of 220 kilometers. The electric drive, which comprises a rear-mounted electric motor, produces 100 kW (136 hp) or 114 kW (154 hp).

According to news reports, two additional fully electric cars will be available at Honda dealers starting in 2024. They'll be built on a GM electric chassis that allows for battery packs with capacities ranging from 50 to 200 kWh and all-wheel drive. In addition, Honda and its substantially smaller Japanese competitor have agreed to produce two entirely new electric vehicles for Honda in 2020. Honda will be solely responsible for the exterior and interior design. It said the technical foundation is GM's new flexible electric car platform with "Ultium" batteries.

In April, Honda provided an update on its e-mobility plans. The corporation intends to raise the share of battery-only and hydrogen-electric car sales dramatically. By 2030, sales in key markets are predicted to rise to 40%, increasing to 80% by 2035. Only locally emission-free automobiles will be marketed internationally after 2040.
