The new Gogoro 3 electric scooter, recently launched by the Taiwanese company, has a new design and new batteries that incorporate the Panasonic 2170 cells, which allow it to reach 170 kilometers of autonomy.
The Taiwanese company Gogoro has presented the third generation of its electric scooter in which it has completely redesigned the overall appearance, and offers greater autonomy thanks to the Panasonic battery cells, identical to those used by Tesla for its electric cars. They also continue to be compatible with their battery exchange program.
Gogoro currently has different models of scooter aimed at different markets. The Gogoro 3 has an electric motor of 6 kW (8 HP) of power capable of sending a 180 Nm torque to the rear wheel, which represents a level of performance similar to that offered by a 125 cubic centimeter scooter. It will be able to reach a maximum speed of 82 km / h in the case of the standard version and 86 km / h in the case of the Gogoro 3 Plus version.
The new batteries offer a higher energy density in the same housing: the Panasonic 2170 cells have replaced the old 18650. The 2170 cells were first installed on the Tesla Model 3 and will soon be included in the Tesla Model S and Model X.
The front wheel of the scooter has a diameter of 14", the rear one is 13", the brake system operates synchronously due to hydraulic brakes on both wheels, providing a safe stop under the most adverse road scenarios. The body is made of polypropylene, which resists better to scratches and is considered a more environmentally friendly material. Behind the compartment for batteries, located under the seat, is the trunk volume of 26.5 liters, in which two helmets are placed.
The base price of Gogoro 3 is $ 3,555, and for local buyers, it is almost half cheaper thanks to the government subsidy for the purchase of electric vehicles.
The Indian government has decided to cut VAT on electric vehicles from 12% to 5% and charging stations from 18% to 12%. In addition, the purchase of electric buses by the municipalities is exempt from VAT. The changes will come into… Continue reading
