If you are a fan of electric cars, you might have heard of the Voyah brand, a new subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor, one of China’s largest automakers. Voyah, which means “I am here” in Chinese, aims to challenge the likes of Tesla, NIO, and BYD in the booming EV market in China and beyond. The brand was launched in July 2020 with a promise to deliver “smart, green, and high-quality” vehicles that cater to the needs of young and tech-savvy consumers.
The first model from Voyah is the Free, a mid-sized SUV that claims to offer a long-range, high performance, and low price. The Free was officially launched in China on August 20, 2023, with a starting price of 36,660 USD (before subsidies). The Free comes in four variants: H97C, H97E, H97F, and H97G, with different battery sizes and power outputs. The top-of-the-line H97G boasts a whopping 1,221 km (758 miles) of NEDC range, thanks to its massive 150 kWh battery pack. That’s more than twice the Tesla Model 3 Long Range range range, which has a 75 kWh battery and a 568 km (353 miles) NEDC range.
