The Chinese start-up electric car start-up based in Shanghai, Aiways starts pre-selling its first fully-electric SUV, the U5, in Germany.
Aiways sells the U5 in Germany exclusively through direct sales together with its partner Euronics. You can choose between the equipment variants Standard for 37,990 euros and Premium for 40,990 euros (gross prices, so the net price for both variants is below the 40,000 euro). Both variants with 63 kWh battery capacity and 150 kW (204 PS) electric motor are fully eligible for 9,480 euros environmental bonus.
The pre-sale tour starts on August 14th and stops at 30 Euronics locations in Germany. Test drives should also be possible at the selected locations. The first deliveries are to take place in October.
The vehicle's temperature-controlled batteries can be charged with the standard 230 V cable via a wallbox in your own garage or at almost 30,000 public charging stations in Germany. The Aiways U5 draws up to 90 kW via CCS at fast-charging stations. Charging via Type2 is also supported.
With its 63 kWh battery, the Aiways U5 electric SUV should cover up to 410 kilometres (WLTP) on one charge. The electric motor on the front axle offers 150 kW (204 hp).
The Aiways U5 has modern driver assistance systems such as ACC, Emergency Brake Assist, Preventive Collision Protection Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Assist.
Interested customers can find out more about the car as well as location and schedule on a Euronics website. You can also book a test drive by phone.
The Aiways U5 is scheduled to go on sale in Europe at the beginning of 2020 and a few months later to the United States. It will not have traditional acquisition formula but a kind of monthly subscription with a fee of about 400 euros. The brand has not said… Continue reading
