Ford's first fully electric car has received an overwhelming reception since its launch earlier this year. Enthusiasm for the unique SUV is shared not only by customers but also by the automotive journalists who have just nominated the Ford Mustang Mach-E for Car of the Year 2022.

As many as 38 car models have so far fought for a final place in the competition, where a competent jury consisting of 61 European motoring journalists throughout the year has tested the new car models on various occasions. Now a sharp final field of seven cars has finally been selected, all of which have the chance to be named Car of the Year in Europe when the final winner is revealed on 28 February 2022.

The jury's great recognition of the Mustang Mach-E comes in the wake of last month's honors, where the Mustang Mach-E collected not just one, but two top marks in extensive tests. The Ford Mustang Mach-E was awarded top marks with the maximum five stars by the independent crash test authority, Euro NCAP, and it scored further top marks by the eco-labeling scheme, Green NCAP with five stars.

Euro NCAP awards the Mustang Mach-E five stars in safety, which include safety tests for both adults and children. The Mustang Mach-E achieves 92 percent and 86 percent, respectively, in scores for protection and is praised in this connection for the advanced driver assistance technologies such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Assist with automatic emergency braking, Blind Spot technology and the Lane Keeping System.

In addition, the Ford Mustang Mach-E receives great recognition from the independent eco-labeling scheme, Green NCAP, which awards stars to the most climate- and environmentally friendly cars. Here, the Ford Mustang Mach-E also scores top marks with the maximum five stars. With an electric range of up to 610 km according to WLTP, the Mach-E has also been tested in both hot and cold environments and achieves a nice score of 94 percent in energy efficiency and top marks of 100 percent in clean-air and greenhouse gas testing.

The beautiful, new recognitions from Euro NCAP and Green NCAP are added to the Mustang's growing list of awards and recognitions from around the world.

The Mustang Mach-E is one of Ford's total of six electrified powertrains that have achieved the maximum five stars from Euro NCAP. Last week it was the popular Ford Kuga Plug-in Hybrid that was awarded a great prize when it was named "Family Car of the Year" at this year's Auto Awards. The award is an extension of an excellent year for the Ford Kuga Plug-in Hybrid, which has been the best-selling passenger car for several months in a row.
