The F-150 Lightning is one of the cornerstones of Ford's $ 22 billion electric investment. Ford has started this major venture by developing electric variants of their most popular cars - such as the Mustang, Transit and now the F-150 in the US market. In the coming years, there will be even more models.

The new Ford F-150 Lightning fully electric pickup is scheduled for launch in the US in the spring of 2022, comes in four different versions and with two different battery packs.

With a starting price similar to today's F-150 (from $ 39,000) with the same configuration, the new F-150 Lightning opens up several new opportunities. The new Ford F-150 Lightning it's faster than the F-150 Raptor, comes with AWD (four-wheel-drive) as standard, has an independent rear suspension, can supply power to your house for three days and is continuously improved using OTA updates. The Ford F-150 Lightning will be produced at the Rogue factory.

563 hp and 1050 Nm of torque

The new Ford F-150 Lightning fully electric pickup has 563 hp, over 1050 Nm of torque and achieves 0 - 100 km / h in approximately 4.5 seconds. It can carry a payload of up to 900 kg and pull a maximum of 4,500 kg. The car's low centre of gravity also provides even better driving characteristics on various surfaces such as wet roads and through the sand.

Two battery packs with great electric range

The range for the new pickup is expected according to the American EPA measuring method to be up to 370 km with the Standard Range battery and up to 480 km with the Extended Range battery.

The new F-150 Lightning also comes with a range of advanced technologies that make it both easier and smarter to use. As part of the Ford Co-Pilot360 technology, Blue Cruise allows you to drive without your hands on the steering wheel on the more than 160,000 km of pre-approved roads in the United States and Canada. The Onboard Scales smart system gives you an estimate of the actual weight loaded in the car. This works in conjunction with the Intelligent Range to give you accurate estimates of the remaining electric range, based on how heavily loaded the car is.

The new F-150 is also available with the new SYNC4A infotainment system and a 15.5-inch display. SYNC4A adapts to the driver's habits over time, giving you easy access to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and other SYNC AppLink apps. A 12-inch fully digital instrument panel elevates the overall digital experience of the F-150.

With Ford Intelligent Backup Power, your electric pickup also becomes an external power source up to 9.6 kW. With the Pro Power Onboard, F-150 Lightning owners can use the car's power as an external power source for power tools or other power-hungry products when they are not near a charging option.

Under the hood is hidden a large frunk of about 400 litres, where you can load more than 180 kilos. The chassis is also reinforced with sheet metal to protect the batteries and engine from hard terrain. The battery is further protected by a waterproof case wrapped in collision-absorbing material.

On a 150 kilowatt DC fast charger, the F-150 Lightning electric pickup with Extended Range Battery can charge over 86 km of range in just 10 minutes and can be charged from 15-80 % in about 41 minutes.
