The Chinese from Silk-FAW Automotive has unveiled the production version of the Hongqi S9 super hybrid sports car. The design is signed by the famous Walter De Silva, and the hybrid propulsion system develops a total of 1,400 hp.
In 2019, Silk-FAW Automotive came to Frankfurt Motor Show with two concepts that caught everyone's eye. One of them was Hongqi S9, a sports hypercar with a hybrid propulsion system and Italian design.
Now, the Chinese manufacturer has presented to the whole world the production version that will be manufactured in only 99 copies. The first Hongqi S9 will reach future customers in 2022, and the price of a single hybrid sports car starts at 1.2 million euros.
The design of the new Hongqi S9 is signed by Walter De Silva, vice president of design at Silk-FAW. He also designed models such as Audi R8, Lamborghini Egoista and Volkswagen Scirocco. According to Walter De Silva, he and his team were able to find a balance between aerodynamics and beauty.
The sports hypercar is equipped with a hybrid propulsion system: V8 4.0 Biturbo engine and three electric motors. The ensemble is enough to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 1.9 seconds. The maximum speed is 400 km / h.
The new Hongqi S9 will compete with will be the Bugatti Chiron, Koenigsegg Jesko and Czinger 21C.
Silk-FAW Automotive is a joint venture between Silk EV and FAW, the largest Chinese automaker.
