2024 Kia EV9: A Three-Row Electric SUV That Won't Break the Bank

The electric vehicle market is getting more crowded and competitive every year, with new models offering different features, sizes, and prices. But one segment that EV makers have largely overlooked is the three-row SUV, which can accommodate larger families or groups of passengers. Until now, the only options for those who wanted a spacious and eco-friendly ride were the pricey Tesla Model X or the upcoming Rivian R1S, both of which start at over $70,000.

But Kia is changing the game with its all-new 2024 Kia EV9, a three-row electric SUV that starts at just $54,900. The Kia EV9 is not only Kia's flagship vehicle but also the first of its kind to offer a roomy and comfortable interior, a long driving range, and a reasonable price tag. The EV9 is based on the same platform as the smaller Kia EV6 but with a bigger battery pack and more space inside. It also features a sleek and futuristic design, a high-tech dashboard, and a host of advanced safety and convenience features.

What Makes the 2024 Kia EV9 Special?

The 2024 Kia EV9 is not just any electric SUV. It's a vehicle that aims to provide a sustainable and enjoyable mobility solution for families and groups who need more room and versatility. Here are some of the key features that make the EV9 stand out from the crowd:

  • Three rows of seats: The Kia EV9 can seat up to seven people in its three rows of seats, which are designed to offer ample headroom, legroom, and comfort. The second row can slide forward and backward to adjust the space for the third row, which can also fold flat to create more cargo space. The EV9 also has a large panoramic sunroof that lets in natural light and enhances the sense of spaciousness.
  • Long range and fast charging: The EV9 offers three battery options: a 76.1-kWh pack for the base model, which has a single rear motor that produces 215 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque; a 99.8-kWh pack for the long-range model, which has a slightly less powerful rear motor that delivers 201 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque; and a 99.8-kWh pack for the all-wheel-drive model, which has two motors that generate 379 horsepower and up to 516 lb-ft of torque. The base model has an estimated range of over 250 miles, while the long-range model can go up to 300 miles on a single charge. The all-wheel-drive model has a shorter range but can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 5 seconds. The EV9 also supports fast charging, which can replenish up to 80% of the battery in about 30 minutes.
  • Smart technology: The Kia EV9 electric SUV is equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that are seamlessly integrated into the dashboard. The infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and Kia's UVO link app that allows remote access to various vehicle functions. The EV9 also has a wireless charging pad, multiple USB ports, and a Harman Kardon premium sound system. The EV9 also features Kia's Highway Driving Assist II system, which can automatically steer, accelerate, brake, and change lanes on highways. The EV9 also has a blind-spot view monitor, a surround-view monitor, a head-up display, and other driver-assist features.
  • Affordable price: The 2024 Kia EV9 starts at $54,900 for the base model, which is significantly lower than its competitors like the Tesla Model X ($79,990) or the Rivian R1S ($70,000). The long-range model costs $59,900, while the all-wheel-drive model costs $64,900. The EV9 also qualifies for the federal tax credit of up to $7,500, which can further lower the cost of ownership.
