MG Pushes Into the Value EV Segment

MG launches the 2026 MG S6 EV with a clear objective: deliver long range and fast charging at a price that undercuts midsize electric competitors. The SUV uses a 77 kWh battery and delivers up to 329 miles WLTP range on single-motor versions.

The lineup includes rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive models. The Dual Motor Trophy trim sends the SUV from 0 to 62 mph in 5.1 seconds, giving the S6 EV performance numbers that compete with higher-priced rivals.

MG keeps charging times short. Every S6 EV supports 150 kW DC fast charging, taking the battery from 10% to 80% in roughly 38 minutes under test conditions.

Cabin and Tech Designed for Daily Use

MG pairs the powertrain with a quiet, practical cabin. Higher trims add heated and ventilated front seats, heated outer rear seats, and a 1.96-meter panoramic roof. Cargo capacity reaches 674 liters in the rear and 1,910 liters with seats folded. Rear-wheel-drive versions add a 124-liter front trunk.

Tech remains simple. A 12.8-inch touchscreen works with a 10.25-inch driver display, while a Head-Up Display appears on Trophy trims. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. A 360-degree camera system helps with low-speed maneuvering.

MG keeps physical controls for key features to reduce distraction. The connected iSMART system handles remote cabin prep and charging status.

Safety and Assistance

The S6 EV holds a 5-star NCAP rating and includes seven airbags, including a central one. A braking system developed with Continental stops the RWD model from 62 mph to zero in 36 meters.

MG Pilot bundles forward braking, lane support, adaptive cruise, and blind-spot monitoring. A new Pilot Custom mode lets drivers save preferred alert settings.

Pricing and Market Position

Pricing starts near $48,500 USD equivalent, putting the S6 EV below several midsize electric SUVs offering similar space and range. Fully equipped Trophy models sit around $56,000 USD equivalent.

MG's strategy remains consistent: deliver long range, practical tech, and useful cabin space at a lower cost than mainstream competitors.
