Skoda launches the Superb PHEV (plug-in hybrid) in 2019. The propulsion system will be taken over from the Volkswagen Passat GTE and it will offer 218 horsepower. Skoda Superb plug-in hybrid autonomy would be up to 70 kilometers, about 20 kilometers more than the GTE Passat.

The propulsion system will integrate a 1.4-liter and 156-horsepower petrol engine and an 85 kW (116 hp) electric motor. Under these conditions, the Czechs expect the CO2 emissions to be about 31 grams per kilometer, which is about 9 g/km less than the Volkswagen Passat.

Skoda representative, Martin Hrdlicka, do not exclude the integration of this hybrid plug-in system on Kodiaq, Karoq or Octavia, but it all depends on customer responses:

“It’s not a question of the technology, but we have to see what our customers are expecting from such a product and how much they’re willing to pay for it - because the plug-in hybrid systems don’t come for free. So first we have to see how the Superb goes and the reaction of our customers.”
