The 2027 Denza Z Spider combines a retractable roof with three-motor all-wheel drive, 1,180 kW or 1,582 hp, and 1,240 Nm or 914 lb-ft of torque. Looking at the data, this all-electric high-performance convertible reaches 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds, 200 km/h in 6.46 seconds, and 300 km/h flat out.
The Denza Z Spider carries substantial mass. It weighs 2,300 kg, yet it trails the lighter Coupe by only 0.05 second from zero to 100 km/h. Denza Z uses independent rear motors to control each wheel's torque directly, which improves launch traction and corner-exit response.
Denza Z Spider Dimensions and Specifications
| Specification | Metric figure | US conversion |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 4,780 mm | 188.2 in |
| Width | 1,975 mm | 77.8 in |
| Height | 1,350 mm | 53.1 in |
| Wheelbase | 2,780 mm | 109.4 in |
| Curb weight | 2,300 kg | 5,071 lb |
| Battery capacity | 76 kWh | 76 kWh |
| WLTP range | 400 km | 249 miles |
| Top speed | 300 km/h | 186 mph |
| Drag coefficient | 0.255 Cd | 0.255 Cd |
| Cargo capacity | 131-176 liters | 4.6-6.2 cu ft |
Its 1,975 mm width and 1,350 mm height create a broad, low stance that supports high-speed stability. In addition, the 2,780 mm wheelbase provides enough cabin length for four seats rather than limiting the Spider to two occupants.
Why Three Electric Motors Change the Driving Experience
Denza's e3 Sports Car Platform assigns one motor to the front axle and one motor to each rear wheel. Specifically, this layout lets the control software alter rear-wheel torque without relying on a mechanical differential.
- Front motor: 500 kW and 440 Nm
- Each rear motor: 340 kW and 410 Nm
- Combined output: 1,180 kW and 1,240 Nm
- Motor speed: Up to 30,000 rpm
- Boost mode: 30 percent additional throttle torque for 20 seconds
Vehicle Motion Control coordinates propulsion, brakes, steer-by-wire hardware, and suspension responses in as little as 10 milliseconds. Consequently, the system can correct wheel slip, yaw, or a sudden tire-pressure loss much faster than a conventional mechanical layout.
From an expert perspective, the Spider's DiSus-M magnetorheological dampers deserve equal attention. Denza combines them with air springs, double-wishbone front suspension, and a five-link rear axle. Six-piston front calipers, four-piston rear calipers, and carbon-ceramic discs handle repeated high-speed stops.
Denza Z Spider vs Coupe and Racing
| Data point | Spider | Coupe | Racing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Curb weight | 2,300 kg | 2,230 kg | 2,250 kg |
| 0-100 km/h | 2.30 sec | 2.25 sec | 1.96 sec |
| WLTP range | 400 km | 410 km | 380 km |
| Drag coefficient | 0.255 | 0.250 | 0.310 |
| Cargo capacity | 131-176 L | 250 L | 250 L |
| Wheel diameter | 20 in | 20 in | 21 in |
| Spring type | Air | Air | Coil |
By comparison, the Denza Z Coupe provides 10 km of additional range, greater cargo volume, and 70 kg less weight. The Denza Z Spider sacrifices little straight-line speed for open-air driving.
Can the Denza Z Spider Really Charge in Nine Minutes?
Denza claims its Flash Charging system can move the 76 kWh Blade Battery from 10 to 70 percent in five minutes and from 10 to 97 percent in nine minutes. Adding 60 percent means transferring roughly 45.6 kWh, which requires about 547 kW of average battery-level power before losses.
Buyers will need compatible charging hardware to reproduce those times. The onboard AC charger accepts 11 kW, so home charging will take far longer.
Pro-Tip
Before ordering, ask the dealer to confirm:
- Spider-specific pricing and delivery timing
- Local access to Flash Charging stations
- Roof operation time and cargo capacity in each position
- Replacement costs for tires and carbon-ceramic brakes
- Battery, roof mechanism, and track-use warranty terms
The broader Denza Z range entered international pre-sale near $184,800, but Denza has not confirmed a separate Spider price for every market. First deliveries target late 2026, although some markets will classify the car as a 2027 model.
The BYD Denza Z electric supercar enters the high-performance EV class with 1,604 PS, equal to about 1,582 hp, plus 1,240 Nm, or roughly 915 lb-ft. Yet its pricing creates the sharper talking point: the Coupe starts at… Continue reading
