Mahindra is not a household name in the U.S., but it is one of the largest automakers in India and a global player in electric vehicles. The company unveiled its latest concept, the Mahindra XUV.e9, at the Auto Expo in New Delhi. This futuristic SUV is designed to showcase Mahindra’s vision for a zero-emission, connected, and smart mobility future.
The Mahindra XUV.e9 is based on the XUV700, a midsize SUV that Mahindra launched last year in India. The concept features a sleek and aerodynamic design, a large grille with a digital display, slim LED headlights, and a sculpted hood. The side profile reveals a sloping roofline, flush door handles, and large wheels with blue accents. The rear end has a distinctive LED light bar that spans the width of the tailgate and a diffuser that integrates the charging port.
The interior of the Mahindra XUV.e9 is equally futuristic, with a minimalist and spacious cabin that can accommodate up to seven passengers. The dashboard is dominated by a large curved screen that combines the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment system. The screen can be customized to display various information and functions, such as navigation, entertainment, climate control, and vehicle settings. The concept also features a head-up display, a wireless charging pad, and ambient lighting.
The Mahindra XUV.e9 is powered by an electric drivetrain that consists of two electric motors, one on each axle, that deliver a combined output of 300 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. The concept can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds and has a top speed of 124 mph. The battery pack has a capacity of 80 kWh and can provide a range of up to 310 miles on a single charge. The concept also supports fast charging, which can replenish 80 percent of the battery in 40 minutes.
