For this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, Polestar brought a prototype of their upcoming Polestar 5 electric car to show off. In addition, the Swedish electric car maker has released several technical specifications for the new all-electric model on this special occasion.
The new Polestar 5 electric car will be highly fuel-efficient, using two electric motors producing a combined 884 horsepower (650 kW) and 900 Newton-meters (Nm). In addition, the 800 V architecture and aluminum frame used in the Polestar 5 help keep the car's overall weight. The Polestar 5 electric car will be the serial version of the Polestar Precept concept presented in 2020.
The Polestar 5 will debut in 2024 as a mass-produced electric vehicle. The electric model has four doors and a coupe body, with a digital dashboard replacing conventional gauges.
"The new powertrain we are working on will set a new brand benchmark in our high-performing cars," claims Jörg Brandscheid, CTO and Head of R&D at Polestar. "Incredibly impressive driver's cars are being created by melding cutting-edge advances in lightweight platform technology with innovative electric motor engineering."
"Polestar 5 is a company-defining project," says Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath. "Its forward-thinking aesthetic and cutting-edge engineering signaled a new era for Polestar. With our talented team, we can design groundbreaking electric vehicles."
