The American electric car startup Eli has built an electric city car, called Eli Zero, which is a successful combination of a Renault Twizy and an electric Smart Fortwo.

In urban mobility, the electric car should play a major role in the future, the electric car startup Eli is sure of this and is about to introduce the corresponding product. Presented three years ago at the CES Show in Las Vegas, Eli has now presented complete information about the mini electric car Eli Zero, which is ready for series production. Eli Zero is an ultra-compact two-seater with a purely electric drive.

The small electric car measuring 2,250 mm long, 1,380 mm wide and 1,588 mm high is shorter than the Renault Twizy, as wide and 13 cm taller (Twizy 2,340 mm long, 1,380 mm wide, 1,450 mm high). Compared to Smart, Eli Zero is more compact, being 445 mm shorter, 283 mm narrower but 33 mm higher. The wheelbase of 1.60 meters is 273 mm shorter than the Smart, but Eli Zero still offers enough space.

At first glance, the Eli Zero is very reminiscent of a Renault Twizy, but the Zero can accommodate two passengers side by side. There is also a fixed rear window and solid glass doors. The turning circle of the Eli is 7.01 meters.

Eli Zero is available in three versions: Eli Zero Lite, Eli Zero and Eli Zero Plus. The first two have a 5.8 kWh battery that gives it a range of 83 km. The battery is charged from a normal outlet within 2.5 hours.

Eli Zero Plus has an 8 kWh battery that gives a range of 116 km. The battery is charged from a normal outlet within 3.5 hours. Eli Zero and Eli Zero Plus also have a thermal battery management system.

All three versions are powered by a 4 kW electric motor that transmits power to the rear axle via a single-speed automatic transmission. The trunk of the two-seater electric car holds 160 litres of luggage.

Air conditioning is optional on the first version and standard on the others, and Eli Zero and Eli Zero Plus come with vegan leather upholstery, the basic version having textile upholstery. They also have standard dual LED headlights.

In terms of security systems is rather poorly equipped. In addition to seat belts, a rear camera and parking sensors as well as the mandatory sound generator for driving at low speeds. All versions have LED daytime running lights, easy entry and keyless start system, 7-inch display, USB, 12V socket.

Prices are a bit higher than at Twizy but it was normal because Eli offers more space and better standard features.
The price starts at 10,999 euros and can be booked by paying an advance of 200 euros which is returnable if the customer changes his mind.

The maximum speed is limited to 45 km / h for the European versions. US versions have a speed limit of 25 mph (40 km / h) according to US law.
