Dacia, the affordable brand of Renault, will arrive on the electric market in 2021. The French automotive group confirmed the information during the group's financial results. According to rumours, this vehicle, with a 100% electric motorization, would be based on a model exclusive to the Chinese market, the K-ZE.
Between hybrid and electric, Renault's strategy is geared towards clean powertrains. Electric vehicle sales increased by 25% last year. And the group hopes to accelerate the movement in 2020.
But it will certainly not be until 2021 that the electric will take off at Renault.
The first electric car from Dacia will be presented next year for marketing which would not arrive until 2022. It will therefore be the third car 100% electric Renault after Zoe and Twingo ZE. The latter will be unveiled this year, logically on the occasion of the Geneva Motor Show, which will open its doors on March 5.
Renault obviously did not specify the identity of this Dacia. However, insistent rumours claim that Dacia would simply take over an already existing vehicle in the Renault catalogue: the K-ZE, an electric mini-SUV exclusive to the Chinese market. With a small electric motor with a capacity of 33 kW and a power of 45 horsepower, it benefits from a range of 271 kilometres.
