China is no longer just a producer of cheap cars, including electric cars. One of the most successful Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer is the NIO company, which offers premium electric cars. And the Hongqi brand goes even further in this direction. It launched a huge luxury electric SUV: Hongqi E-HS9. It is a huge vehicle, as evidenced by the dimensions of 5,209 x 2,010 x 1,731 x 3,110 mm (length x width x height x wheelbase).
Hongqi is not an e-mobility startup. On the contrary, it is the oldest Chinese carmaker, which focuses on passenger cars. It was established in 1958. It originally produced vehicles for high-ranking government officials.
Hongqi E-HS9 is offered in two four-wheel-drive versions. The base one has the same electric motor on the front and rear axles, which produce 218 hp each and 350 Nm (a total of 436 HP and 700 Nm). But the first model on sale will be the top version, which has the same 218 hp engine on the front and a 333 hp engine in the back and 450 Nm (a total of 551 HP and 800 Nm).
Batteries are available in three sizes: 85, 99 and 120 kilowatt-hours. These are rated for 460, 510 and 650 kilometres of range, respectively (286, 317 and 404 miles).
Hongqi E-HS9 electric SUV can accelerate to 100 km / h in 4.8 seconds.
