In a few days, Hyundai will open the reservations for the Ioniq 5. This is the first model of the new electric family of the Korean brand and the first electric car to be developed on the E-GMP platform. With two battery options, rear and all-wheel drive and a range of almost 500 km, the price of the Ioniq 5 start at 43,000 euros (without any discounts or government incentives).
Some cars are made to make history. Some because they advance innovations that position them above their segments. Others, because they release technology that, later, will inherit later models. And others for these and other reasons. In this last group, there is a newcomer: the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
The Ioniq 5 is the first model in the new electric family created by Hyundai. It has been developed on the group's E-GMP platform, which gives it exceptional habitability. It has a three-meter wheelbase and modularity that allows practically all the elements of the cabin to be varied, including the central console that moves up to 14 mm.
The design is inspired by the Hyundai Pony, a compact launched in 1975. But by dimensions (more than 4.5 meters long) and shapes, it is not a utility vehicle, but a CUV ( Crossover Utility Vehicle ). And although it exudes a retro air, it has many futuristic details: the retractable handles, the pixelated headlights with LED technology, the two 12-inch screens and the Head-Up Display with augmented reality are just a few examples.
