The new electric car - Marvel R Electric - from the British brand MG hits dealerships this fall. The electric SUV can now be pre-ordered. The exact prices are unknown, but according to MG, they should be between 40,000 and 50,000 euros. The new MG electric car is available with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and in Comfort, Luxury and Performance variants.

The new Marvel R Electric combines dynamic design elements with first-class quality and advanced technologies, the company advertises. The electric car is 4.67 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2.8 meters, which, according to MG, allows a spacious, luxurious interior with plenty of storage space. Moreover, with an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in up to 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 200 km / h, it combines efficiency with high performance and driving pleasure. In addition, the Marvel R Electric car is made on a light, extremely stable aluminium frame that is otherwise only found in sports cars.

In the interior, the Marvel R electric SUV has a digital cockpit with a 19.4-inch touchscreen. This touchscreen can be used to operate the functions of the new MG iSMART connectivity system. The various functions are controlled remotely via a smartphone app. These functions include real-time traffic navigation, parking search, weather forecast, and Amazon Prime online music. Also, components of the equipment are Bluetooth, USB connection, a Wi-Fi hotspot and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system can be operated hands-free using voice control, and the infotainment software is kept up-to-date with over-the-air updates.

Via the app, MG Marvel R Electric drivers have access to remote control functions such as "Find-My-Vehicle", querying status data on the vehicle, functional tests, route planning, calendar synchronization, and charging management. For safety, the MG Pilot assistance system has 14 support systems that warn the driver of potential dangers - such as a risk of collision - and intervene if necessary to maintain traction and stability. A lane departure warning assistant has recently supplemented the system.

The top version of the Marvel R Electric drive has a drive train with three electric motors, a permanent all-wheel drive and a system output of 212 kW (288 PS), as well as a WLTP range of 370 kilometres. The electric car variant with rear-wheel drive and two electric motors offers an output of 132 kW (180 hp) and a range of 402 kilometres. The power consumption is given as a combined 19.4 to 20.9 kWh / 100 km.

Both versions of the Marvel R draw their energy from a 70 kWh lithium-ion battery. The AC onboard charger can draw up to 11 kW of electricity. The battery is also suitable for DC quick charging; it can be taken to an 80 % charge level in 43 minutes. In addition, via the V2L (“Vehicle to Load”) function, the battery can supply external electrical devices such as air pumps, e-scooters, laptops or another electric car with power.

The maximum trailer load of the MG Marvel R Electric car is 750 kilograms. This makes the vehicle suitable for pulling a trailer, caravan or two e-bikes on a special bike rack. The trunk has 357 litres, and utilising the foldable rear seats can be expanded to 1396 litres. The rear-wheel-drive version of the Marvel R Electric also offers 150 litres of additional luggage space under the hood.
