To date, eight different Audi cars are available as electric cars, almost four years after the debut of the Audi e-tron. There will be more than twenty distinct models available by 2026. By that time, every Audi model being sold everywhere on the globe will be electric. Both the battery size and charging efficiency have been greatly improved by Audi. That's how Audi strikes the perfect balance between energy density and charging capacity, resulting in greater efficiency. Audi has also improved the powertrains.
The Audi Q8 e-tron is Audi's flagship electric SUV, as indicated by the Q8 name. The Audi Q8 e-tron, a high-end electric SUV, is the first Audi vehicle to wear the company's new corporate logo.
The Audi Q8 e-tron is spacious and comfortable, with 4,915 millimeters in length, 1,937 millimeters in width, 1,619 millimeters in height for the Sportback, and 1,633 millimeters in height for the SUV. With a wheelbase of 2,928 mm, even tall adults in the backseat will have plenty of room to stretch out. The 569-liter SUV and the 528-liter Sportback both have roomy trunks (the method for calculating the space conditions has changed, but the luggage compartment is the same size as before the facelift in both models). There is also a 62-liter (L) trunk.
Both chassis options are compatible with one of two electric powertrains. Both the Audi Q8 50 e-tron and the Audi Q8 50 Sportback e-tron have two engines that provide 340 hp and 664 Nm of torque in boost mode. Both models can go up to 491 kilometers (SUV) and 505 kilometers (Sportback), respectively.
When using the boost function, the two engines in the Audi Q8 55 e-tron and the Audi Q8 55 Sportback e-tron create a combined 408 horsepower and 664 Nm of torque. Between fill-ups, up to 582 kilometers (SUV) and 600 kilometers (Sportback) are possible. Similar to the Audi Q8 50 e-tron, this vehicle has an electronic top speed limiter set at 200 km/h.
The smaller Audi Q8 50 e-tron has a battery with a net 89 kWh capacity (gross 95 kWh), while the larger Audi Q8 55 e-tron has a net 106 kWh capacity (gross 114 kWh).
The maximum charging power for an Audi Q8 50 e-tron at a fast charging station is 150 kW. The Q8 55 e-tron may be charged at up to 170 kW. The big battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in around 31 minutes, equivalent to a range of about 420 kilometers in ideal conditions. The Audi Q8 e-tron may be charged at an AC charging station or a home charging box with an output of up to 11 kW, while Audi e-tron still offers an AC charging power of 22 kW as an option.
Audi's Q8 e-tron model includes standard Plug & Charge functionality. If the charging station is compatible with the vehicle, authorizing the vehicle and activating the local station will happen without human intervention.
In 2023, Audi will introduce a new charging service called Audi Charging to replace the current e-tron Charging Service and provide drivers with access to more than 400,000 public charging locations across Europe. The route planner app makes it easier to locate nearby charging stations.
An air-suspended chassis with adaptive damping is standard on the new Audi Q8 e-tron. The car's lateral dynamics have been fine-tuned in conjunction with the air suspension's tuning. As a bonus, the ESC stability control system will soon provide more leeway, especially at tighter turns. Audi Q8 e-tron drivers will appreciate how the updated, progressive steering makes maneuvering around them much more accessible. To further improve the steering's responsiveness, the gear ratio has been altered so that even small adjustments to the wheel have a noticeable effect.
Remote parking assistant plus is a brand-new option for driver assistance systems that won't be accessible until 2023. It allows the Audi Q8 e-tron to fit into garages and parking garages much smaller than its physical dimensions. The myAudi app on the driver's smartphone manages the parking process. When the vehicle has reached the end of the parking space, the engine shuts off, the parking lock is engaged, and the doors are locked automatically.
