Solaris has presented its latest electric bus: Urbino 15 LE. The 15-meter-long Urbino 15 LE electric bus is a three-axle vehicle designed primarily for the Scandinavian market. The electric bus is powered by an asynchronous electric motor that develops 300 kW. The 6 battery packs store a total amount of energy of 470 kWh, which guarantees an impressive autonomy of 250 km.

The Urbino 15 LE electric bus offers 53 seats and two foldable seats in the three-door configuration and up to 65 seats in the two-door version. It will have a hybrid heating system based on a heat pump and Solaris can optionally instal an air conditioning system.

A number of safety and assistance systems are available to drivers, like the Mobileye Shield and driver assistance system. The Urbino 15 LE electric bus is of course also compatible with Solaris' fleet management system eSConnect. The bus can be outfitted with a special air filtration system and anti-bacterial support bars.

Solaris has been selling three-axle buses since 1999 and has sold almost 1,300 of them with diesel or CNG drives. The new generation of Urbino 15 LE will only be built with an electric drive and will be offered both as a classic city bus and as an intercity bus.

Urbino buses are the widest range of electric buses, with variants ranging from 8.9 to 24 m in length. The Urbino 15 LE electric bus is ready for series production, with the first units to be delivered to Norway. Despite being created for the Scandinavian region, the Urbino 15 LE electric is also to be offered in other countries.
