The new Porsche Taycan becomes the official safety car for Formula E, the championship dedicated to electric cars on urban circuits around the world.

Porsche will provide the official Safety Car for the Formula E championship. Formula E is a competition dedicated exclusively to electric cars. The chosen model is, of course, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S electric car and will debut in its new official position in the first stage of the new Formula E season on January 28 and 29 in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.

The Porsche Taycan Turbo S, customized in the colors of the competition, is the new Safety Car in Formula E. The Porsche Taycan Turbo S has a maximum power of 761 hp and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.8 seconds in Launch Control mode. The top speed is 260 km / h.

The Porsche Taycan Turbo S has undergone several modifications to be used as a safety car. Also, a roll cage and competition sports seats with six-point belts were installed. Additional controls for specific lighting and communication system have been added. A few unique lights were integrated into the spoilers, and an additional ramp was mounted on the ceiling. Bruno Correia from Portugal will drive the official Formula E safety car in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.

The new Porsche Taycan Turbo S versions have two electric motors, one per axle, enjoying the all-wheel drive. The front motor develops up to 190 kW of power, and the rear develops up to 335 kW of power. The rear electric drive has two ratios, designed to maximize the car's efficiency, as well as achieve the greatest possible acceleration.

The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is compatible with fast recharging systems of up to 800 volts, with recharging power peaks of up to 270 kW. The new Porsche Taycan Turbo S recharging is programmable and can be managed from a mobile app, which can also be used to access and pay for recharging at public charging stations.
