Renault ZOE is Europe's best-selling electric car in 2020

Renault announced excellent results in Europe on the electric car market thanks to the excellent performance of the Renault ZOE, the best-selling electric car in 2020. The Renault Kangoo ZE performed with good results as well.

The Renault ZOE is truly the best-selling electric car in Europe in 2020. 33,000 units have found customers in France, more than 25,000 in Germany, and it is also a best-seller in Italy, Spain and Portugal. The small city car is more and more popular with people who are looking for compact cars, easy to park and manoeuvre, which consume very little and which are unlikely to be forbidden in the medium term.

The Renault ZOE has accumulated more than 268,000 sales since its launch. The electrical division of Renault is very happy: by the end of November 2020, it had sold more than 95,000 electric vehicles since January, including 84,000 of the ZOE alone. An increase of 80% compared to 2019.

Renault's other electric success this year is called the Kangoo ZE, the European leader in electric light commercial vehicles.

The Renault Kangoo ZE was sold in 8,500 units so far this year. This brings the total number of Kangoo ZEs sold since 2010 to 57,595 units. A facelift of the Renault Kangoo ZE is planned for spring 2021, with technical features which should evolve for the better.

Finally, the Renault Twingo ZE, available since September 2020, started with just 1,760 units sold until now. However, it will be necessary to wait until next year to assess its potential.

The best-selling electric car in Europe, the Renault ZOE is now offered in an R135 version, as its name suggests, of 135 hp (100kw) while the 110 hp electric engine remains in the catalogue. The power that is naturally made possible by the new battery, the cells of which are still supplied by LG. The battery capacity increased to 52 kWh against 41 kWh for the previous model. This is enough to greatly increase the electric car autonomy by 25% and obtain a WLTP figure of 395 km.
