Volvo has opened the pre-orders for the all-electric XC40.

Volvo XC40 Recharge can now be ordered in Germany at prices starting at € 62,000, however, this is the expensive "R-Design" version. Cheaper models are to follow.

The Swedes had presented their first electric model since Geely's takeover in October 2019. The compact SUV comes with two 150 kW electric motors for a total output of 300 kW and a range of 400 kilometres in the WLTP cycle.

With combustion engines, the "R-Design" equipment in the XC40 is available from 41,910 euros, but only with a 120 kW petrol engine. With the plug-in hybrid, the model already costs 52,560 euros. The entry-level version of the XC40 is available from 32,950 euros - prices of around 50,000 euros are conceivable for the electric version in smaller configurations.

In addition to the electric drive, the XC40 Recharge is the first Volvo model to feature the Android-based infotainment system.

The electric XC40 has a trailer load of 1,500 kilograms. Volvo does not provide an update to the delivery start in the current release
