Hyundai launches Kona Electric N Line, a bold and powerful electric SUV

Hyundai Kona Electric N Line

The Korean automaker Hyundai has unveiled its latest electric vehicle, the Kona Electric N Line. The new model is a sporty version of the popular Kona Electric, which is Hyundai’s best-selling EV in Europe. The Kona Electric N Line features a distinctive design, enhanced performance, and advanced technology, making it an attractive option for EV enthusiasts who want to stand out from the crowd.

What is the Kona Electric N Line?

The Kona Electric N Line is a new trim level for the Kona Electric, a compact SUV that offers a range of up to 300 miles (483 km) on a single charge. The N Line is Hyundai’s sub-brand for sporty and performance-oriented models, which also includes the Hyundai i30 N, the Hyundai i20 N, and the Tucson N Line. The Kona Electric N Line is the first EV to receive the N Line treatment, which adds some exclusive features and upgrades to the standard model.

What are the design features of the Kona Electric N Line?

The Kona Electric N Line has a unique and aggressive design that sets it apart from the regular Kona Electric. Some of the design features include:

  • A new front bumper with a larger air intake and a lower skid plate
  • A new rear bumper with a diffuser and a triangular fog lamp
  • A dedicated N Line grille with a patterned mesh and an N logo
  • A glossy black roof spoiler and side mirrors
  • Exclusive N Line 19-inch alloy wheels with a two-tone finish
  • N Line badges on the front fenders and the tailgate
  • A choice of nine exterior colors, including two new ones: Cyber Gray and Ignite Flame

The Kona Electric N Line also has a refined and sporty interior, which features:

  • N Line sports seats with red stitching and N logos
  • A black headliner and ambient lighting
  • N Line metal pedals and door scuff panels
  • A leather-wrapped steering wheel with red accents and paddle shifters
  • A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility
  • A wireless smartphone charger and a USB port
  • A premium Bose sound system (optional)

What are the performance features of the Kona Electric N Line?

The Kona Electric N Line has the same powertrain and battery as the regular Kona Electric, which means it has a 201-horsepower electric motor and a 64-kWh battery pack. However, the N Line has some performance enhancements that improve its handling and driving dynamics. Some of the performance features include:

  • A sport mode that increases the responsiveness and torque of the electric motor
  • A regenerative braking system that recovers energy and extends the range
  • A multi-link rear suspension that improves stability and comfort
  • A vehicle stability management system that optimizes the traction and braking
  • A smart cruise control system that adapts to the traffic and road conditions
  • A lane-following assist system that keeps the vehicle in the center of the lane
  • A forward collision-avoidance assist system that detects and prevents potential collisions

The Kona Electric N Line is expected to go on sale in Europe in the first quarter of 2024. There is no word yet on whether the model will be available in other markets, such as the US or Canada.
