The Blacksmith B2 is an Indian electric motorcycle, a mixture of classic and technological design, a great autonomy thanks to its interchangeable batteries and a very affordable price.

The Blacksmith B2 electric motorcycle is the third evolution of the prototype of the new company Blacksmith Electric that promises a great autonomy combined with a system of interchangeable batteries. Although its electric motor just has power for the purpose for which it has been developed, its two batteries are capable of offering up to 240 kilometers of autonomy (120 kilometers each).

Blacksmith Electric is a newly established company based in Chennai, India, since 2003 aims to offer its customers a smarter way to travel, cleaner and more sustainable. This approach is encouraged by the intention of the Indian government to electrify its fleet of two and three wheelers in the next eight years, opening local businesses and foreign market of 21 million motorcycles.

The third evolution of his Blacksmith B2 electric motorcycle is close to the production model that is expected to start making in 2020. In the teaser photos launched by the company is an electric motorcycle with a long wheelbase (2,200 mm long, 800 mm wide and 1,150 mm high) that mixes classic design with modernist touches.

The electric motor of the Blacksmith B2 does not stand out by its nominal power, 5 kW (7Hp), although in the peaks it can reach up to 14 kW (19 Hp). Its maximum speed is 120 km / h. Its trick is autonomy. It incorporates two interchangeable batteries that offer 120 kilometers of autonomy each, that is, a total of 240 kilometers.

The price is also great news in the case of the Blacksmith B2, since it is planned to launch it to the Indian market for between 3,500 euros and 4,400 euros.

To achieve this goal, Blacksmith Electric is based on innovation, on improving manufacturing processes and on involving suppliers in the development process. The design starts from scratch to end up being an electric motorcycle, it is not an adaptation of a conventional motorcycle to incorporate an electric motor and a battery.

The expansion of the Indian electric motorcycle market is showing some very interesting models from local companies that have no choice but to electrify their catalog.
