The Aiways U5 is scheduled to go on sale in Europe at the beginning of 2020 and a few months later to the United States. It will not have traditional acquisition formula but a kind of monthly subscription with a fee of about 400 euros.

The brand has not said who will be their great opponents, but we see Aiways U5 fighting face to face with the Tesla Model X .

The Aiways U5 is by dimensions and configuration, belongs to the segment of the Sport Utility Wagon (SUV, to understand us). It measures 4.68 meters long, 1.68 meters high, 1.88 wide and has a battle of 2.8 meters.

The electric car of Aiways is in pre-production phase in the factory that the brand has in the Chinese city of Shangrao. The company plans to manufacture around 2,000 units by the end of 2019 and around 50,000 by 2020.

The official autonomy of the Aiways U5 reaches 503 km under the old NEDC cycle (another data that puts it at the level of the Tesla ). In order to know the real autonomy, it will be necessary to wait for the homologation tests in WLTP conditions to be completed.

It also has an intelligent battery management system, which asks users to optimize their driving habits and extend the life of the battery based on data analysis.

The compact SUV uses a 65-kWh battery, although the Aiways company is considering offering different battery packs for different markets. The engine, with 140 kW of power (187 hp), is located on the front axle and develops a maximum torque of 315 Nm.
