Hyundai presents the new version of its Sonata Hybrid, which will receive two new features: a solar roof will be installed and the new Active Shift Control (ASC) transmission technology.

The Sonata Hybrid sedan is powered by a gasoline engine with 112 kW and an electric engine with 38 kW. The system power is 143 kW. Consumption is 4.97 liters per 100 kilometers.

Active Shift Control uses the electric motor of the hybrid drive to match the speed of the transmission with that of the drive shaft of the combustion engine. For this, Hyundai has developed intelligent control software that monitors the switching operations 500 times per second. The result is noticeably faster and still softer gear changes compared to conventional hybrid transmissions.

ASC improves the shifting time of a hybrid transmission by 30 percent while reducing fuel consumption.

Active Shift Control celebrates its premiere in the new 2020 Hyundai Sonata plug-in hybrid. For now, Hyundai Sonata plug-in hybrid is not offered in Europe.
