Uber launched its e-bike rental platform Jump with around 1,000 pedelecs in Berlin. It is the first location in Germany. The bright red electric bikes are now available in twelve districts of the capital. The rent costs one euro basic fee and additionally ten cents per minute. At the start, the first five minutes are free of charge. Booking is via Uber-App. The rent can be interrupted or stopped at any time.

Jump is launching a new generation of striking bright red wheels. They are up to 25 km / h fast. The battery lasts for a distance of 50 kilometers. They are powered by a 250 watt motor and feature a three-speed gearshift, disc brakes, mobile phone holders and a sturdy bicycle basket that can even be used to transport purchases.. A total of 40 service personnel are deployed to service the fleet and ensure that the wheels are distributed as needed. The pedelecs were developed by Jump in the USA.

In the United States, Uber has been present with electric bike sharing in 16 cities until now - including in Sacramento and San Francisco. The e-bike operator had launched more than 12,000 e-bikes in 40 cities in six countries since 2010.
