Electrification, and mainly the electric car, are the future of the automobile industry. So much so, that many marches work and invest huge sums of money for the development of this technology that, undoubtedly, will end up being the tonic in the market. In addition, many brands reveal their plans with these types of vehicles, such as Audi, which will offer 30 electrified models in 2025, of which 20 will be fully electric.
Two-thirds of the cars that Audi plans to have in 2025 will be pure electric, as the company says they have "the best carbon footprint of all propulsion systems on the market throughout their useful life." As a result, Audi will offer 20 electric cars in 2025 , including the Audi e-tron that it launched on the market earlier this year.
This will be followed by models such as the Audi e-tron Sportback, which will debut at the 2019 LA Auto Show, or the production versions of the Audi e-tron GT concept and the Audi Q4 e-tron. While investing a large number of funds in the development of electric cars, the German firm has said it will continue to work on conventional engines with a "focus on universal micro hybridization and the 48-volt electrical system."
Audi will also launch a wide variety of plug-in hybrid models, as the company considers them an "essential element" of its electrification plans. Thus, Audi electrified vehicles will account for 40% of total sales in 2025, a significant change compared to the product portfolio it currently offers, although the company clearly believes that electrification is the future.
Audi cars will not be the only thing that will become efficient, as the company revealed that its goal is to be "climate neutral" by 2050. As part of this effort, the brand is focusing on a variety of outbreaks, including the increased use of recycled materials and renewable energy. Therefore, Audi will build the largest 'sunroof' in Europe in two of its technology centers in Hungary, with an area of approximately 160,000 square meters.
