The van eagerly awaited by European startup companies was unveiled by Ford Pro. The new Ford E-Transit Custom is the all-electric version of Europe's best-selling minivan. It was built from the ground up to give customers in the one-ton van segment a level of productivity that has never been seen before.

To help businesses reduce the cost of ownership, increase productivity, and streamline the transition to electric vehicles, Ford is combining its cutting-edge electric vehicle technology with the digital ecosystem of Ford Pro software and services to launch the new E-Transit Custom electric van.

Ford gives its E-Transit Custom customers cutting-edge features based on research with small and medium-sized businesses. These features include cloud connectivity and digital technologies that can be updated with new elements through Ford Power-Up over the vehicle's life.

The cutting-edge battery technology enables an extended range of 380 kilometers and a high charging power of 125 kW. With the help of Ford Pro solutions, the E-Transit Custom will be able to do a lot of different things well.

New digital solutions for multi-drop deliveries and simple access to the cabin and loading bay are two ways E-Transit Custom electric minivan helps businesses increase their day-to-day output. The cabin doubles as a mobile office with 5G connectivity and a foldable steering wheel that can be used as an ergonomic stand for laptops and tablets.

Ford fused digital advancement with unwavering battery power. The Ford E-Transit Custom electric van has a maximum towing capacity of 2,000kg, a low floor for easy access, and can deliver a payload of up to 1,100kg. We've taken customer satisfaction to a new level by installing an independent rear suspension and giving the engine more power than anything else in its class.

The Ford E-Transit Custom electric van is one of four new Ford Pro electric commercial vehicles scheduled to arrive in Europe by 2024. Ford Pro also introduced the all-electric E-Transit, selling over 8,300 units. Ford Otosan, a Turkish manufacturer, plans to start producing the E-Transit Custom in the fall of 2023.

The new electric powertrain in the Ford E-Transit Custom minivan was made to help small businesses and independent traders using diesel powertrains to meet their business needs switch to electric mobility.

"The Transit Custom is a tough model to improve on," said Hans Schep, General Manager, Ford Pro, Europe. "It is the best-selling panel van in Europe and was last year's best-selling vehicle in the UK." However, the new E-Transit Custom is a "huge leap forward" for Ford's customers. "E-Transit Custom van integrates an unmatched digital ecosystem and gives customers new experiences that will change the way businesses work in the electric and connected age."

The 400-volt, 74-kWh usable battery pack in the E-Transit Custom uses the same cutting-edge 82 Ah cells as the Ford F-150 Lightning, resulting in a density of energy that is 12% higher than that of the standard E-Transit. According to Ford Pro customer data, a one-ton van driver travels an average of 62 kilometers daily, so the battery's range is more than four times that. When the battery is mounted directly to the structure, it can help battery life and mobility.

The Ford E-Transit Custom electric van has two different power configurations: 100 kW (135 hp) and 160 kW (217 hp), with a maximum torque of 415 Nm. To save space for cargo and cut down on complexity, the electric motor is mounted directly on the vehicle's rear floor and swiveled 90 degrees. Since no other all-electric van can match the E-Transit Custom's towing capacity of up to 2,000 kg, diesel vehicles may be phased out in favor of it. In the interest of convenience, a retractable tow bar is available as an add-on.

All models of the Ford E-Transit Custom electric van come standard with revolutionary vapor injection heat pump technology for climate control. This new system aims to increase energy efficiency and, therefore, driving range.

One-pedal capability and an energy-efficient braking system are both standards on the Ford E-Transit Custom. The design incorporates conventional friction braking and regenerative braking, which recharges the battery during deceleration to achieve a high driving range. Like the Ford Mustang Mach-E, the van has a "single pedal" mode where the driver can stop the vehicle without braking.

Customers will be able to recharge the battery overnight thanks to the 11kW 3-phase AC onboard charger found in the E-Transit Custom. They can check the battery life at any time with the FordPass Pro app.
 
DC fast charging is supported up to 125 kW on the E-Transit Custom, which means you can go from 15% to 80% charged in just 41 minutes. In laboratory tests, the system provided 38 km of range in just 5 minutes using a 125 kW station, thanks to a new charging profile that allows for rapid recharges when necessary. The Blue Oval charging network is available to Ford Pro customers, and it is the largest in Europe, with over 300,000 stations. Access to the Blue Oval charging network is included at no additional cost for 12 months with the purchase of every E-Transit Custom.

In a typical workday, a delivery driver can make up to 200 deliveries to different locations. Delivery Assist expedites and strengthens the safety of each delivery by automating specific steps. When Delivery Assist is enabled, it will activate when the driver places the vehicle in park. The moment the driver exits the van, Ford E-Transit Custom will activate the hazard lights, close any unlocked windows, and lock the door. When the driver returns, he or she can get back in and start the car without using the key. After a while, the warning lights will turn off, and the windows will readjust themselves.

To charge tools, lights, and other devices that run off the high-voltage battery while driving or working, ProPower Onboard is available to provide up to 2.3 kW through the cabin and cargo area outlets, just like the Ford E-Transit electric van.

FordPass Pro's SecuriAlert feature allows users to link their vehicle's security system for added peace of mind. Remote door locking and unlocking is possible, as is an alert system, if the car is attempted to be entered by someone other than the owner. Closer to the release, we will provide more information on the state-of-the-art digital security features.

Each company's van functions as a mobile billboard. The Ford E-Transit Custom electric van raises the bar for the aesthetic quality of one-ton pickup trucks with its muscular stance, well-balanced proportions, and all-LED exterior lighting, highlighted by a unique front-light bar. More than 800 different aerodynamic simulations were used to develop the flat floor, unique honeycomb grille, aerodynamic wheel designs, and even the shape of the rear light block, all to increase the range by as much as 10%.

The loading floor is lower than in the current model, making it easier to load and unload cargo and enter the vehicle. Engineers considered all aspects of the design to develop a floor plan that incorporates the battery, making a dedicated impact-safe structure superfluous. The battery is placed low in the chassis so that there is less wasted space, and the rest of the undercarriage doesn't have to carry as much weight.

In order to gain entry to multi-story parking garages, underground loading bays, and other areas that have height restrictions, the E-Transit Custom has been lowered to a height of fewer than two meters. If you need to load a lot of stuff into the trunk, you'll appreciate the new access step and the wide opening of the side door, which are both the best in their class.

The new Ford E-Transit Custom van has a payload capacity of up to 1,100 kilograms, a maximum load length of 3,450 millimeters, and a load volume ranging from 5.8 to 9.0 cubic meters. The double cab (DCIV) and kombi body styles come in short or long wheelbases and low or high roofs. The new L-shaped bulkhead with a two-seat second row and a full-length cargo area with a composite wall can accommodate up to five passengers and longer items like tubes, boards, or kayaks. Thanks to the factory's first-of-its-kind design for the market segment, customers no longer need to come up with solutions to the problem of transporting long passengers and cargo.

Independent rear suspension is standard on all E-Transit Custom vans, just like on the larger E-Transit, lowering the vehicle's center of gravity and enhancing the vehicle's responsiveness and maneuverability. With the front wheels and shock absorbers moving forward, the car is now easier to enter. Exits have more room for front passengers' legs and feet and shorter overhangs for better maneuverability and parking. The standard suite of assistance systems on a Ford E-Transit Custom can reduce collision frequency and severity, lowering maintenance costs, repair bills, and insurance premiums. There are features like a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, a lane-keeping system, driver alerts, cruise control with an adjustable speed limiter, recognition of traffic signs, intelligent speed assistance, wrong-way signals, and automatic emergency braking.

When compared to the standard model, the E-Transit Custom's cabin is roomier, and its storage compartments are more secure. The console-mounted gearshift, electronic handbrake, and tilting steering wheel are invaluable for drivers who park in tight spaces and want to avoid heavy traffic. Ford is also the first in its segment to put an airbag on the roof. This gives the car more storage space (enough for a laptop or notebook) and more ways to mount panels and devices closer to the driver, all in line with the AMPS standard.

Ford's designers took into account how owners would put the E-Transit Custom to use, down to the grain of the materials used in the cabin and cargo area, which were created with textures that avoid picking up dirt and water, providing the optimal compromise between a firm footing for wet or muddy boots and the ability to easily lift heavy objects.

Since the van driver is often the only person in the vehicle, a new Driver Focus Mode has been added to the HVAC system. The first SUV to have an intelligent windshield was the Ford Kuga. It constantly checks the temperature and humidity of the environment and makes minor changes to the airflow and heating/cooling system to keep the windshield clean and free of streaks.  @via Ford Pro.
