Hyundai Motor shares more details about the all-new IONIQ 5, which is the company's first model on the new dedicated E-GMP platform, and which marks a whole new era for electric cars. The new IONIQ 5 electric car is a large crossover SUV and will be launched in early 2021. By developing completely new high-tech and state-of-the-art electric cars, Hyundai reaffirms its status as a leading electric car player.
The all-new IONIQ 5 is among the first electric cars in the world which comes with an 800-volt battery system. The car thus has support for ultra-fast lightning charging of up to 232 kW. This ensures very fast charging speeds.
IONIQ 5 will be able to charge from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes. In addition, the 800-volt system provides weight and space optimization. Of course, on a home charger, the electric car supports 11 kW.
The all-new IONIQ 5 gets a bold and progressive design, which is completely unique to the upcoming electric car. The design draws inspiration from Hyundai's history, more exactly from the Hyundai Pony Coupe Concept from 1974.
IONIQ 5 is also the first model based on Hyundai's new E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) electric car platform. The platform provides major improvements through ultra-fast lightning charging and increased range.
Hyundai will release new details about IONIQ 5 in the coming weeks, in the form of a game on social media.
